Probate and Estate Administration

I’m here for you.

Probate and Estate Administration

When someone passes with only a will or even without a will, a probate estate may need to be open. What this means is that in order for assets to transfer to the proper beneficiaries, some court involvement may be necessary depending on the complexity of the decedent’s family structure, assets, and estate plan. This is the probate process. This process does not need to be intimidating for executors, administrators, or trustees; however, a lawyer will be required to guide you through this process to accomplish the overall objective: to transfer assets and manage the decedent’s final affairs. The probate process may not always be necessary but any alternatives to probate should be thoroughly discussed and explained to you by an attorney.

After the death of a loved one, the "next steps" regarding the distribution or transfer of assets may be difficult to understand or contain a complex process. When a person dies, a survivor will have to collect the decedent's assets, pay estate debts, and distribute the decedent's assets. PHM Law, LLC guides you through the process and bring peace of mind that the estate will be settled effectively and efficiently. PHM is here to reduce this burden on you and your family as much as possible. Losing a loved one is a difficult emotional experience, the legal matters should not be.  Whether or not the decedent left a will or had non-probate property, such as joint accounts or payable-on-death accounts, PHM will provide you with the resources for an efficient transition of the decedent's property.
